Catching Elephant is a theme by Andy Taylor
I am in no way a pro photographer. I don’t even play one on t.v. I am however in the entertainment video field. For almost 30 years I have shot concerts and animal shows…plus appeared on a short lived t.v show. But this isn’t about me this time.
Since being on Tumblr I have enjoyed a ton of peoples posts. Some pro models and picture takers but mostly normal ever day people. Those are the ones I prefer. Real life..real people…real beauty. With that I am throwing in what I hope to be some useful advice for the self-pic takers. Again.. I am not a pro but I think this can help.
1- LIGHTS!! — If you have them in your room please turn them on. Dark pics are artistic but they are still dark which can also lead to grainy and out of focus.
2- STEADY!! — Try and hold the camera, or phone, still. Give yourself a second or two after you take the pic before moving. Blurry isn’t pretty..well maybe sometimes.
3 - MIRROR MIRROR FLASH — If you are shooting at a mirror, shut your flash off. Flash bursts aren’t sexy as you are.
4 - SIZE MATTERS — No not that size..picture size. Smaller pics are—well—small and can be really grainy when re-sized to enjoy. But to big can be a bandwidth hog. Split the diff.
Hope this helps in some way. Keep up the great work people.
